Port Macquarie formed a very significant part of settlement in Australia the 1800's and although many of the older buildings have disappeared over time you can still feel and experience what life must have been like. Take a look at the museum which houses many wonderful relics of the past, visit St Thomas Anglican church, built by convicts, tour the historic walks, stopping along the way to study the old well, the place of the old cannons or take one of the many guided walks to Innes Ruins, the home of Major Archibald Clunnes Innes home during the 1830's and 1840's. Visit the old courthouse,the Maritime Museum, Roto House, Douglas Vale Vineyard and other similar gems.
TIMBERTOWN HERITAGE THEME PARK
Timbertown is set amongst 87 acres of natural forest on the Oxley Highway, Wauchope. It is a living, working, village, recreated to show how our timber cutting pioneers lived. You'll smell the distinctive aroma from the steam train as you take a ride around the village and through the bush. You'll see the bullock team, the blacksmith and the wood turner all at work. You can shop in the many gift shops and wander through the old cabins. The smell of the freshly baked bread will entice you toward the eatries.Ph 6586 1940
